About the Edison Pathways

Edison Career and Technology is more than a high school education.  We are a Career and Technical Education School (CTE), or Critical and Timely Education, as we like to call it.

At Edison Career and Technology High School, students are provided the opportunity to invent their future — and the foundation they need to make it happen.

Edison offers academic, technical training, work-based learning, and support services. Our CTE Pathways connect high school classes with technical learning, internships, and mentoring to help students get ahead. Edison Inventors can earn industry credentials and college credits, in addition to participating in clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities. Put it all together, and you get a one-of-a-kind educational experience.

Program Features

At Edison Tech, students follow one of four distinct career pathways where they will get hands-on training and on-the-job experience that ties into their class instruction to make their classes more relevant and exciting. Each pathway is designed to prepare students to move in to in-demand career fields or college after graduation.

Automotive, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering
This pathway prepares students for a variety of careers in engineering/optics, precision machining, automotive technology and welding. and related fields. Projects give students a practical application of English language arts, math, science, and technology.

Construction Architecture, and Design
This pathway prepares students for a variety of careers in building trades: architecture, carpentry, electrical and masonry. Students see projects through drafting, building, renovating, and designing phases while applying a variety of academic knowledge and skills.

Digital Media, Arts, and Communication
This pathway prepares students for visual imaging careers including television/video production, advertising design, music production and interactive media (web design). Students hone their creative skills by designing and building projects using industry standard software and equipment while applying academic knowledge to real world applications.

P-Tech Rochester: Pathways to Technology
P-TECH Rochester students complete a 4+2 Computer Science program, where, in addition to their Regents diploma,  they earn an Applied Associates Degree in Network and Security Administration from MCC, funded by New York State.   During their four-year high school sequence, students begin building the skills necessary to enter the competitive job market, including positions as a cybersecurity specialist, network technician or database administrator.  Students have the opportunity to begin earning college credits within their first four years of high school. Beginning in 10th grade, eligible students are enrolled in dual-credit classes. In 11th grade, P-TECH Rochester  students take their first MCC dual-enrollment course and, as seniors, attend virtual and in-person college classes through MCC, while still receiving the support of a high school teacher / instructor.  P-TECH Rochester students are also eligible for internships with business partners like Kodak and the City of Rochester.
